Lincoln Lutheran Volleyball Never Giving Up

As the first games of the season have been completed, the Lincoln Lutheran volleyball team has started to see how they match up with the competition around them. This years Lincoln Lutheran Varsity volleyball team is young, very young, having only five upperclassmen on the roster. This is a much different way of volleyball as compared to years past according to Senior Ellie L’Heureux.

“Last year we were dependent on the majority of upperclassmen to take our team in the right direction. This year we share the role together to lead our team to be as successful as we can be.”

The theme for this years team is Never Give Up and is based on 2nd Chronicles 15:7. Although the team is much younger than in years past, they have reasons to be optimistic even early in the season according to Amber LeGrande, the other senior on the team.

“The team has shown great potential for this year, and also for years to come.”

The lady warriors after facing tough competition like Platteview and Lincoln Christian, have made their way back to being above .500. They look to continue to improve in the coming weeks against teams like Omaha Concordia and Grand Island Central Catholic.

One other thing that the two seniors really agreed upon was the great coaching staff that they have.

“As a team we can always depend on them for feedback and support throughout the season.” L’Heureux added.

The coaching staff is led by Sue Ziegler, a longtime coach who led Lincoln Lutheran to their only State Championship in 2004. Coach Ziegler doubles as a Physical Education teacher at the school, where she has been teacher for a total of 26 years, along with 19 years of coaching. On Tuesday, September 13 Coach Ziegler notched her 300th career win as the Warriors took down the Bulldogs from Auburn in three sets.
